Neuromodulator unit margin calculator

Enter your vial cost, your waste and your price per unit to see what a treatment really earns before overhead.

The number most injectors quote is vial cost divided by label units, and it is always optimistic. Reconstitution leaves product in the neck of the vial, a partly used vial past its window gets discarded, and a light day means you open a vial for two patients. Counting those units honestly usually moves the true cost per unit up by five to ten percent, and that difference lands entirely on your margin.

This calculator asks for the numbers you can check today: what you paid for the last vial, how many units the label carries, roughly how many units you lose per vial, what you charge per unit, and how heavy your average treatment is. The result is gross profit per treatment before rent, staff and card fees, which is the figure to use when you are deciding whether a promotion pays.

Your actual invoice cost, not the list price.

The labeled unit count for the product you buy most.

Residual product, discarded partial vials and reconstitution loss.

Your standard price, before loyalty program credits.

Across glabella, forehead and crow feet for a typical patient.

Count tox appointments only, not filler or skin visits.

Your result

Usable units per vial

95

Label units minus what never reaches a patient.

True cost per usable unit

$5.89

This is the number to price against, not label cost.

Gross profit per treatment

$242

Product margin only, before room, staff and card fees.

Annual gross profit from neuromodulator

$162,341

Based on forty eight working weeks a year.

These figures are product margin only, so subtract rent, staff time, malpractice and card processing before calling it profit.

Where the waste actually goes

Three habits create most neuromodulator waste. Opening a vial for a single small treatment late in the day, discarding reconstituted product once your own hold window closes, and drawing up conservatively so a little stays in the vial each time. None of those are errors, they are the cost of a flexible schedule, but they belong in the arithmetic.

Injectors who track waste for one month are usually surprised by the pattern rather than the total. It clusters on light days and on the last patient of the afternoon. If you find that, the fix is scheduling tox patients in blocks rather than changing your technique.

Using this before you change your price

Per unit pricing is transparent and scales with dose, which patients understand and heavy dosers pay for. Per area pricing is predictable and protects you when a patient needs fifty units to get a result. Run this calculator twice, once at your current per unit price and once at a per area price divided by your average units, and see which model holds margin on your actual patient mix.

If a promotion is on the table, work out gross profit per treatment first and then ask how many extra treatments the discount has to bring in to stay level. The answer is often a larger number than the promotion can realistically deliver, and knowing that before you post it saves a quarter.

Questions about this calculator

Should manufacturer loyalty credits be in these numbers?

Leave them out of the unit price here. Those programs move patient behavior and rebooking rather than your product margin, so mixing them in obscures the figure you are trying to see. Model them separately as a retention effect.

What is a realistic waste figure to enter?

Count it rather than guess it. Track every vial for four weeks, noting label units, units injected and units discarded, and use the average. Injectors who do this usually find the real number sits above the one they assumed.

Does this work for filler as well?

Not directly, because filler is sold and priced per syringe rather than per unit. The same logic applies though: use your real invoice cost per syringe and your standard price per syringe, and count partial syringes discarded at the end of a treatment as waste.

Now change the number, not the estimate

The figure this calculator just produced moves when the lot comes off the carton in your hand rather than out of memory at nine in the evening. Book a short walkthrough and we will run one of your own injectable visits end to end, from the signature at the chair to the fourteen day touch up review opening on its own. You will know inside a demo whether the arithmetic on this page actually shifts for your room.
